This pathway will allow the learner to participate either independently or with others in shopping, eating out and taking part in recreational activities, including visiting the gym and swimming.
Some of the important skills that Routes4Life
students will be encouraged to develop will include accessing local transport and gaining knowledge of community resources. Students will learn and practise the expected conduct in social settings as well as the more practical skills of handling money and finances, using a phone, telling the time and planning with a calendar to schedule activities and appointments. At the start of the year, students learn at the provision through role play and then they will be given the opportunity to practise in 'real life'.
As these functional skills are attained, the learner will find it easier to access and enjoy community resources either independently or with family, friends or carers.
